Facility Manager

Essential Responsibilities:
1) Develops plans and programs in response to present and anticipated space and facility requirements.
2) Coordinates final approval of facility designs.
3) Formulates operating rules, regulations, and procedures.
4) Inspects plant facilities or reviews inspection reports, to determine repairs, replacement, or improvements required.
5) Coordinates activities of personnel involved in repair and maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment to minimize interruption and improve efficiency.
6) Prepares related reports and audits current procedures to monitor efficiency of operations.
7) Evaluates proposals and bids for various design, contracting, and follow-on services as required.
8) Recommends bid acceptance.
9) Reviews reports of expenditures for previous year and proposed improvements on facilities in order to prepare budget estimates for upcoming year.
10) Ensures employee conformance to established practices and proper training of staff.
11) Responsible for hiring, employee motivation, and counseling of employees supervised.
12) May assist in the design and development of new facilities.
13) Responsible for the enforcement of company security/safety policies and procedures.
14) May be responsible for the direction of security personnel and programs at company office facility.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor?s degree in business, management, engineering or related field and at least five years of progressive supervisory experience in managing contracts for maintenance, operation, or construction services for facilities, utilities or infrastructure. Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs is required. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Position involve working in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, weapons, etc. are being installed,tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying.
