Our client , delivering next generation solutions that solve the most complex sensing, networking and communications challenges facing our U.S. Federal Government Customers, is seeking a Digital Signal Processing Engineer IV for our Florham Park, NJ office location.
In this position you will: Under minimal direction, lead the conception, design, and implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms across a wide range of RF communications systems from 3 kHg to 300 GHz.  Create capabilities vital to meeting the most complex sensing, networking and communications challenges facing our U.S. Federal Government Customers.
 Our client Wireless Sensing and Communications is seeking candidates for its research and technology Labs in Florham Park, New Jersey. In addition to Florham Park, New Jersey, we have rapidly growing R&D organizations in these locations: Tampa (Florida), Herndon (Virginia) and Denver (Colorado).

The WSC lab performs advanced R&D to:
•     Create novel wireless communications and situational awareness systems using standards based and custom communications protocols.
•     Create unique small size, weight and power systems for use in air, land and maritime environments
•     Employ advanced signal and protocol processing, channel modeling and waveform
design from HF to W band and optical frequencies as well.

Roles and Responsibilities:
•     Derive requirements for communications subsystems through specifications, data collection/analysis and reverse engineering
•     Model signal processing algorithms using tools such as Matlab
•     Convert the models to operate in real world constrained systems.  This includes fixed point implementations, real-time design and modular decomposition
•     Design and implement these signal processing algorithms for small Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) embedded systems leveraging Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), and General Purpose Processors (GPPs).
•     Verify implementations by developing test vectors from the model and executing test scripts against the real-time implementation
•     Document all aspects of the system from requirement through test procedures
•     Travel to other  Locations of our client or Customer Sites as necessary
•     Understand and adhere to all our client Ethical and Compliance policies
•     Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to our client EH&S policies and procedures
•     Perform other duties as required
•     If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
•     Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Computer Engineering and 6-8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience
•     Master’s degree preferred
•     Thorough understanding of digital signal processing techniques and algorithms
•     Expertise in translating mathematical models, such as a Matlab program, into real-time embedded firmware
•     Development experience in embedded real-time environments such as Linux or VxWorks to include device driver and application layers
•     Understanding of hardware/software partitioning to optimize the implementation for
•     Experience with modern DSps from TI Freescale, and ADI
•     Strong C skills with understanding of C++
•     Ability to rapidly prototype and adapt through multiple development spirals
•     Strong understanding of interfacing to related technologies such as analog/RF design, digital design, power supplies and software
•     Adept in using test instruments and testing techniques
•     Strong oral and written communications skills
•     Ability to obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level necessary to perform the duties of the position
Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
•     Experience developing demodulators for wireless communication systems
•     Knowledge of GSM, UMTS, CDMA, LTE, WiFi/WiMax
•     Experience with software engineering design and analysis (OOA/OOD)
•     Knowledgeable with scripting languages (Perl, Python)
